The pursuit of knowledge

'Ello 'ello. Excuse the absence. I've been in study lock down mode in light of impending assignment due dates and exams. This usually involves hanging out with Microsoft Word instead of human beings, enduring square eyes from staring at my computer screen for too long, swigging back endless cups of peppermint tea, staying up past my bedtime and attempting to lay my blog addiction to rest for a while. When I'm not being entirely nerdy, I'm enjoying the following:

I hope life is treating each and every one of you very kindly.

Fragments

A few snippets captured over the last few days with my partner in crime: lush greenery surrounding my apartment building, waiting around for a taxi (hence the lens cap "eye patch" and illusionary '72' bunny ears), a pizza fuelled lunch date, the discovery of a vintage wonderland tucked beyond an unsuspecting stairway in West End, falafel pitas in the sunshine, beer and bands in the Valley on a Sunday (washed down with wine and MORE pizza) and the quintessential sunset shot for good measure.

Friends of Friends

They say curiosity killed the cat, but I think all human beings are a bit voyeuristic by nature. We're not just interested in what people are wearing anymore, but also how they live in general - what they eat for breakfast, what books are stacked on their bedside tables, what tunes they're listening to and, most intriguingly, where it all unfolds. If home is where the heart is, a person's living space is likely to provide endless insight about their character.

Like me, you've probably swooned over The Selby and cooed over The Coveteur, both of which delve into the homes, workplaces and wardrobes of stylish somebodies. But I thought I'd share these images from German alternative Friends of Friends which captures creative professionals in their immediate living environments, with interviews and videos to boot. From glistening chandeliers, opulent carpets and fine china to potted plants, DIY artworks and rustic wood, you're bound to stumble upon something that inspires.

Fragments (and a poll)

A pretty sunset, action movie marathons (Machete, anyone?), beer and vego-friendly burgers at Grill'd, a disturbingly large cobweb outside my bedroom, a disturbingly large reptile outside my bedroom, royal wedding celebrations, a farewell coffee date with Mum before she scooted off to New York, Valley shenanigans, silly boys, forgetting to oil the muffin trays (fail) and more proof that I get far too excited over a pretty sunset. Can you tell I'm camera shy yet?

Update

Peace out April. Hey May. You must excuse my sporadic posting of late, dear readers. After the glorious Easter holidays, I've been a busy little bee and completely distracted by non-blogging related activities, e.g. swooning over the royal wedding, sub-editing various articles, overenthusiastically indulging in Masterchef 2011, penning a documentary script, vicariously attending RAFW via showcoverage shots, polishing off a fashion story and, like yesterday, playing with face paint at the children's hospital. I'll be back in the swirl and swing of things shortly, but in between blog posts scoot over to my Tumblr for a daily dose of visual inspiration.
