A certain lovely lady nominated me for the 'Stylish Blogger Award' (thank you!), for which I am supposed to fill readers in on seven things about me.
- Career-wise, I've always had a huge interest in the magazine industry. As a pre-teen, I'd use an old school Microsoft programme called 'Creative Writer' to create my own cheesy Dolly/Girlfriend-inspired magazines. My first work experience was at age 14 in Cleo's fashion department - I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. One of my favourite things to do is huddle in a corner of Borders with piles of glossy goodness.
- I failed maths, economics and science to epic proportions in high school. Meanwhile, I adored English, history and art. The logical component of my brain is severely lacking, whereas I've always been creatively inclined. If I wasn't pursuing journalism and PR, I'd be delving into film, literature, design, art, photography or interiors.
- I would rather deck myself out in pre-loved clothing than the latest and greatest designer pieces. While I adore contemporary fashion, I am completely drawn to unique items with history behind them. I could spend hours trawling through vintage shops and second-hand market stalls, and sometimes nothing beats uncovering a thrift store gem.
- I have an ever-growing owl collection. It started with a little high-school joke created by a boy in the year above me who used to "hoooooooooot" whenever I walked past (apparently I have large eyes, although I don't really see it, pun intended). Soon after that my friends and family started buying me owl gifts, from ornaments to jewellery, and now my bedroom is a little owl haven. Hoot hoot.
- I wish I could play a musical instrument, but despite dabbling in piano as a kiddie, I totally lack the patience. Nonetheless, I am a music lover! Some all-time favourites include David Bowie, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Runaways, Cat Power, Sonic Youth, The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, The Rolling Stones and I could go on for days. But music experienced live is the best.
- Restaurant dates, dinner parties and picnic adventures are up there on my list of favourite things to do. Over the years I've gained an appreciation for awesome food, and even though I tend to party more than I probably should, sometimes I'd rather just stay home and unwind in the kitchen. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, nor a liking for fast food, but give me something fresh, vego-friendly and delicious - and I'm yours forever.
